Giving northerners a voice.

That’s what the Northern Ontario Party is looking to do.

The Party’s leader is looking to meet area residents with a host of events lined up from Colbalt to Sturgeon Falls today (Friday) and Burk’s Falls to North Bay tomorrow.

Trevor Holliday says the north needs to be heard and given it’s fair share, “When it comes to concerns about hydro, about infrastructure, about transportation and healthcare, northern Ontario is always put on the backburner.”

Holliday says he’s looking forward to the meet and greet sessions.  “We want people to know that they have a party that will support them with candidates that will not be forced to tow party lines. Each candidate will be representing their communities,” He added.

One of the party’s 22 platform goals is to work towards a Northern Ontario Province.

According to the party’s website http://northernontarioparty.simdif.com/ those goals include:
1. Have governance for Northern Ontario.
2. Restructure government organizations to eliminate waste and repetitive spending or extensive spending
3. Reduce cost of living (Hydro)
4. Improve transportation and travel of Northern Ontario
5. Implement a policy on natural resources.
6. Career creation with actual Green Energy laws and Green building to eliminate emissions but also increase self sustainability.
7. Investing in Northern Ontarians before we help others
8. End sell off to outside countries and not always go to lowest bidder as that takes away from the local economy
9. Indigenous are Northern Ontarians and are part of the goverment not just in meetings but are a part of the process
10. The working people are supported and not just the whole give and take but a fair negotiation and a unity of workers, union and goverment.
11. Investing and spending for the future not just today and tomorrow.
12. Will say what you have thought or thinking about and not sugar coat or make false promises to win your vote.
13. Regulate pricing to avoid unnecessary and unexplainable variances (ex. Gas)
14.Investing in industry to refine and finish resources locally.
15. Review seniors programs, funding and costs to ease the burden or assist with funding for keeping seniors with family or making living more affordable. Also, stricter regulations and standards for PSWs, all support workers for seniors while in their home or seniors living places and standards set for seniors living places.
16. Better care and help for veterans.
17. True transparency.
18. Telling it as it is not feeding lies just to gain a vote but to say what needs to be said or what you are thinking.
19. Invest in health care and jails.
20. Reduce wasteful spending to cut costs at goverment level while maintaining superior service.
21. At least 1 candidate in all 11 districts in Northern Ontario.
22. Work towards Northern Ontario Province.
