City fire crews and Caisse populaire in North Bay are helping spread an important fire safety message.

Director of Wealth Management and Personal Finances Mathieu Shank says they’ve teamed up to provide a smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector to every new home buyer and existing home renewing a mortgage with Caisse populaire North Bay.

But he says that’s not all, “The fire department has also offered a free home fire safety inspection, as an educational piece for the members.”

The initiative comes on the heels of Fire Prevention Week and runs until November 18th.

By law, every home must now have a working smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector on each level.
