A combined Nipissing-Canadore ringette team is getting ready for the University Challenge Cup.

Tryouts were held earlier this month.

“Final cuts were difficult but we had to choose the most skilled players from both schools, especially with the national championships being held in Ontario this year”, said head coach Jeff Francom. “We will attend the University Challenge Cup with one of the best chances for a medal we’ve had in our seven years of hosting a post-secondary team in North Bay.”

From Nipissing, Tori Blendeman, Lauren Blinkhorn, Britney Bujold, Emily Cole, Kaylee Flynn, Alison Groff, Deanna Noel, Melissa Parks, Michela Roman, Emma Small, Julianne Sevigny and Jaime Wilson were selected.

From Canadore, Alex Cyr and Stephanie Lee made the team.

The University of Guelph is hosting the tournament December 28th to the 31st.
