It’s a move aimed at bringing more youth and student events to the Capitol Centre.

A new collaboration has been formed between the downtown venue and the Nipissing University Student Union.

Marketing Manager Katelyn Ricci says they’ve always wanted students to come down to the Capitol Centre. “We find it difficult annually to get the new student body to come out to shows and to promote our UGo program. So to have that collaboration, that leverage with NUSU to help us gain that audience, to bring the audience to the Capitol Centre, is super beneficial to us.”

The UGo program offers tickets at a discounted price to local post-secondary students.

The first event as a part of the partnership is a concert October 29th featuring The Abrams and River Town Saints.

Tickets are $20 in advance or $30 at the door.

With the collaboration, NUSU president Jordan Andrews says they’re gaining a venue space for events, “because we don’t have the on campus venue to host events such as this anymore, it is fantastic that our community partners are as willing as they are to partner with us to help expand the student experience while they’re here in North Bay.”

In terms of providing transportation for students to events, Andrews says that may be something they look into in the future.
