A River Valley man has been fined $2,000 and banned from hunting deer for a year after pleading guilty to shooting a firearm across a highway.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says in November 2015, the man stopped his vehicle on Highway 539 in West Nipissing and shot at a deer from the shoulder of the highway with a high-powered rifle.

He shot parallel to the highway and across the inside curve.

The case was in court on September 19th.
