An advisory from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry about recent bear sightings in North Bay.

The ministry says there have been 7 sightings of black bears on the Leonard Street, Cartier Street and College Drive areas in the past week.

One of the sightings involved food waste in garbage which is a great attraction for bears.

The ministry recommends removing attractants like garbage, bird food and ripe fruit on trees and on the ground can keep bears out of the area.
