Cassellholme

A vote on the future of Cassellholme is still at least a few weeks away.

Board Chair Chris Mayne says a sub-committee presentation and report is only being received tonight (Thursday).

He says no decisions on the future governance model are being made.

Mayne also says one recommendation out of the sub-committee could include moving ahead with the switch as early as January 2017, although he says that’s quicker than expected and he’s not sure if it’s feasible.

With the preferred option being a not-for-profit model, he says moving forward, senior management at Cassellholme will be developing a business case. “(I) told senior executive at Cassellholme if we need more time it’s something we want to do properly, we’re not going to rush into a decision if it’s not the right decision. But, we’re hoping to have that business case ready within the next few weeks”.

Mayne says whatever the board ultimately decides down the road, the province, Local Health Integration Network and all of the member municipalities would have to give their approval.
