We told you earlier this week about the base of a mural being painted on the outside wall of Mac’s Convenience Store at Cassells and O’Brien.

This is part of a series of Mac’s StreetART initiatives across the country. The artist is MagicFinnga Wong and the unveiling took place today.

He says he painted the work and he had plenty of input from local artists

He says local people came up with the ideas on what they wanted to see and he was able to implement different city images.

Sean Sportun is the manager of security for Mac’s stores in Central Canada.

He says they are trying to break the barriers between police and the community.

He says this is the 8th of 15 projects like this.

Sportun says they receive funding on the concept of street art reducing crime and are picking stores that have been the sight of vandalism.

North Bay Police Chief Shawn Devine says it’s awesome work and it takes graffiti which can be construed as negative and turn into an art work that can beautify an area.
