A local delegation is looking to discuss a wide range of issues with the province at the annual Association of Municipalities of Ontario conference in Windsor.

Mayor Al McDonald says they have meetings lined up with a number of provincial cabinet members, including Northern Development and Mines, Municipal Affairs, Finance and more.
“Dealing with Transportation, because infrastructure is so important.”   In terms of Energy, he says, “We’re dealing with the high cost of energy and how it’s having an impact on not only local residents, but business.”

Overall, McDonald says meeting face-to-face with the ministers is a great opportunity to convey their message and keep relationships going.

Other key session topics include climate change, marijuana legalization, rural economic development and disaster preparedness, policing modernization, pension sustainability and the sharing economy.

The conference runs through Wednesday.
