A “wonderful” meeting.

That’s how Mayor Al McDonald describes his sit-down with Premier Kathleen Wynne and Northern Development and Mines Minister Michael Gravelle on Friday.

The Premier was here to unveil the first of 16 refurbished Polar Bear Express passenger coaches at the ONTC, but also met with McDonald.

North Bay’s Mayor says they discussed a wide range of issues, everything from the airport, provincial gas tax, community development infrastructure program and more. “We also talked about how we can attract more skilled labour to our communities, the fact that the ONTC is so critical to us and we see great things happening with additional employment”, he said.

McDonald points out the Premier saying the province is supportive of the ONTC going forward was a very powerful message.

He also thanked Wynne for the Connecting Links funding.

In April, the province announced $2.9-million for work on Trout Lake Road and Highway 63.
