A 41 year old city woman is facing assault and attempted murder charges after an investigation into a domestic violence incident.

It’s alleged an argument turned violent with a male partner being hit last week.

Then around 2:45 this morning (Monday) the man was allegedly stabbed with a kitchen knife.

He was able to flee the apartment to get help.

The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.

 

A separate domestic violence investigation has led to charges for a 31 year old North Bay man.

It’s alleged a verbal argument between a man and woman shortly after midnight Sunday turned violent when a chair, then kitchen knife was swung at a women.

Police say neither the chair nor the knife hit the victim.

After he fled on foot, the accused was arrested a short time later.

His name is not being released to protect the identity of the victim.

 

Meantime, earlier Sunday, police were contacted about a man, suspected of being impaired, swinging a piece of wood outside a Clarence Street apartment building shortly after 5 pm.

A neighbour was able to take the piece of wood away from the man who left on foot.  No one was injured.

A 19 year old North Bay man was located a short time later and charged with public intoxication and assault with a weapon.

 

Overall, city police responded to 277 calls for service on the weekend.

14 people are facing a variety of offences including: attempted murder, domestic assault, drug possession (cocaine, oxycodone, fentanyl, hydromorphone), assault with a weapon, public intoxication, impaired and breach.
