Skyhawks thumbs up

It’s Armed Forces Day in North Bay!

Honourary Colonel Harriet Madigan says everything gets started with a parade of military personnel heading to the waterfront from City Hall just after 11 o’clock.

The Legion Pipes and Drums are included along with the 22 Wing Band.

Madigan says everyone is invited to the waterfront and encouraged to wear red.

Ontario Lieutenant Governor Elizabeth Dowdeswell will be here for the event, which includes a CF-18 demonstration team, the Skyhawks Canadian Armed Forces Parachute Team and static military displays on the ground.

Memorial Drive from Queen Street to Main Street is closed from 8 am to 3 pm for today’s events.

There is no parking available on site.

Meantime, Dowdeswell will be the reviewing officer for the 73rd Annual Ceremonial Review of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps Brilliant tonight at Fort Chippewa Barracks.

The review marks the end of the cadet’s training year.

Also of note, Discovery North Bay is offering free admission to their exhibit on North Bay’s Royal Air Force Flying School from 10 am to 2 pm today as a part of Armed Forces Day.
