A 26 year old city woman is facing several charges following a weekend incident.

The charges include carrying a concealed weapon, uttering threats, three counts of assault with a weapon, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and unauthorized possession of a weapon.

Police say at 1 am on Sunday a woman pulled out a folding knife at the North Bay Regional Health Centre while she was being held for a mental health assessment.

Police say a security guard was threatened and assaulted.

The guard who wasn’t hurt contacted other guards for help.

Police say the woman stabbed two separate doors which the guards were holding closed an done of the guards suffered minor injuries.

She was arrested at the health centre and taken to police headquarters and remains in custody.

 

North Bay Police responded to 85 domestic-related calls for service in April. 15 people — including nine men and six women — were arrested. 33 criminal charges were laid for a variety of offenses including assault, assault with a weapon, harassment, mischief, drug possession, uttering threats and more.

North Bay Police say they responded to 303 calls for service on the long weekend and 14 people were charged for various offenses. The list includes carrying a concealed weapon, uttering threats, assault with a weapon, weapon possession for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a weapon, domestic assault, being unlawfully at large, impaired driving, criminal harassment, indecent exposure and public intoxication.

 

City police are asking for the public’s assistance as they investigate a suspicious fire in Callander.

Police say they were dispatched around 8 o’clock Sunday night to Terrace Road where a trailer parked on a commercial property was burned beyond repair.

There were no injuries.

If anyone has any information, they’re asked to contact city police or Crime Stoppers.

 

The results are in from the fourth annual Prescription Drugs Drop-off Day on the weekend.

City police say 100 pounds was collected, including 60 pounds of unused or expired medication.

City police teamed up with the Stay on Your Feet Coalition and the Health Unit for the event.

Police say people can return their unused or expired prescription or over-the-counter medications to any pharmacy for safe disposal all year.
