CUPE Rally Members of CUPE Local 146 are saying negotiate don’t arbitrate as they continue to look for a new contract.

About 15 members rallied outside of Cassellholme today (Wednesday) to coincide with a Cassellholme board meeting.

President of Local 146 Angie Whaley says this has been a long process. She says their collective agreement has been expired since December of 2013 – and they haven’t been to the table since June 2nd.

Whaley says both parties walked away after that half hour meeting.

She says CUPE does not bargain concessions and they don’t want to go to arbitration as its costly. Whaley adds they are hoping with the Board meeting happening they will get some support to push the employer back to the bargaining table.
