On to the provincials for local gymnast: Martial arts event Saturday

 
A member of the North Bay Gymtrix has qualified for the Ontario Gymnastics Championships.

Melina Lavasseur did so because of her recent performance at an event in Windsor. She won the individual all round gold and also captured the gold medals in the floor exercize and balance beam events.

Meantime, the 3rd annual North Bay Invitational Martial Arts tournament is Saturday at the Nipissing University Student Athletics Centre.

300 competitors are expected to take part in various age, belt and sash levels. Action begins at 11:15 with the black belt divisions and then after lunch it continues at 12:15 with the colored belt/sash tournament.
