Students there took part in the campaign last month and raised $10,153.50 for the cause.

The original goal was $6,500.

In a release, St. Luke Catholic School Principal Susan van Schaayk says, “The great success of this activity is due to the Student Council, the Grade 7 and 8 students and the leadership of Mrs. Sue Korosec,”

A variety of events were held, including “The Caring Heart Campaign” which saw hundreds of hearts returned to the school with the name of a family member or friend who was affected by the disease.
