While the final season of Game of Thrones is set to air in 2019, HBO has already ordered a pilot for a prequel to the fantasy series. The Ringer reports that the new series will be set during the Age of Heroes, some 10,000 years before the events in the current series. As the network explains, “From the horrifying secrets of Westeros’ history to the true origin of the white walkers, the mysteries of the East, to the Starks of legend…it’s not the story we think we know.” Song of Ice and Fire creator George R.R. Martin wrote the story for the pilot alongside Jane Goldman, who served as a writer for the Kingsman movies. The earliest it is expected to air is 2020.
