PHARA, the Physical Handicapped Adults’ Rehabilitation Association says their involvement with the Para Bus program is ending at the end of July.

In a release, they say it was a difficult and challenging decision, but also point out the City of North Bay has done an excellent job of significantly improving accessible public transportation and infrastructure over the past several years.

PHARA employees involved with the program have received 16 weeks notice and have been offered severance packages.

The Association says moving forward they will focus on core services of attendant care and housing.

The city, meantime, will be exploring options to ensure the service continues.

Once a transition plan has been finalized it will be shared with users of the system.
