Minimum wage earners in Ontario, including those in the North Bay area, are getting a pay raise tomorrow (New Years Day).

That’s when the first legislated bump in minimum wage takes effect.

It rises to $14, from the current $11.60.

A year from tomorrow, minimum wage jumps another loonie to $15 an hour.

The province says the change will help workers and their families who are struggling to get ahead in a changing economy.

Officials say an estimated 55 per cent of all retail workers in Ontario will be getting a raise tomorrow.
