Crime severity and violent crime severity in North Bay were both up year over year.

That information is contained in the MacLean’s 2018 Most Dangerous Places List.

North Bay is ranked in the middle of the pack, at 108th out of 229 communities.

The report says that assault and sexual assault rates locally are higher than the national average, but both improved compared to the year before.

In terms of other northeastern communities, Timiskaming Shores was 25th, Timmins 56th, Sault Ste Marie 81st, Sturgeon Falls 102nd and Sudbury was 115th.

North Battleford, Saskatchewan tops the national list while a region in New Brunswick was 229th.
