Sylvie Guenette of Sturgeon Falls had quite the weekend at the Canadian Masters Weightlifting Federation Canadian Open Championship.

She placed 1st in the 50-54, 63 kg class and set a national mark in the 64 kg in the clean and jerk.

 

A winning weekend for the Nipissing Lakers women’s hockey team.

They scored wins over Toronto and Ryerson.

In OUA men’s hockey, Nipissing lost in a shootout to UOIT and lost in overtime to Queen’s.

They’re back on the ice Tuesday at 11am, hosting Laurentian.

A weekend split for the Nipissing men’s basketball team. After a loss to Brock, the Lakers defeated McMaster on Saturday.

The Nipissing women, meantime, lost both of their games.

In OUA women’s volleyball, Nipissing won both of their games against Waterloo and Guelph while the men lost both of their games.

 

The North Bay Major Midget AAA Trappers doubled up Timmins 6-3 on the weekend.

Kobe Seguin paced the offense with 2 goals and an assist.

Also scoring was Nick Wojcik who had 2 goals and Zach Levebvre and Matt Hardwick with singles.

The Trappers are now 17-2-1 on the year.
