In an attempt to trigger what OPSEU calls “real negotiations”, the union is asking for a ”no board” report in it’s contract talks with Ontario’s 24 colleges, including Canadore.

That means both sides could be in a lockout or strike position by mid-October.

The union, which represents 12,000 college faculty, says they have not set a strike date.

OPSEU says issues include education quality and fairness for contract faculty.

Earlier this week, the college’s bargaining team said the union’s proposals were unacceptable.

68 percent of OPSEU members recently gave their negotiators a strike mandate.
