Mattawa OPP say they are presuming a 40 year old Mattawa man has drowned.

The man identified as Arthur Lavoie has been missing since last weekend when he was last seen near a train bridge that crosses over the Ottawa River.

Police say the area has been searched extensively by the OPP, The Snowmobile ATV Vessel Enforcement Unit and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

The OPP say they will continue the search but the area being searched has posed many challenges due to the treacherous water conditions.

Police say Lavoie was last seen wearing red shorts, a red t shirt and a red bandana and if you observe clothing like this floating in the area or on the riverbanks contact the OPP.

Meantime, North Bay OPP has charged a 36 year old East Ferris Township male with driving a vehicle with over 80 mgs of alcohol in the blood.

Police laid the charge after a pickup truck approached a R.I.D.E program at Frost Street and 11/17 ealy last Wednesday morning.
