There’s a new exhibit up and running at the Canadian Forces Museum of Aerospace Defence at 22 Wing.

Curatorial Assistant Bethany Aitchison says it’s called Handle With Care and includes damaged items.

She says the centre piece of the exhibit are 5 World War Two recruiting posters which have been conserved by students at Algonquin College.

She says they were found inside a wall inside a building on Worthington Street which used to house the recruiting centre.

She says the posters weren’t in great shape but a remarkable discovery never the less.

Aitchison says the posters were taken to the college’s Museum Studies program and they were stabilized but still have staining but moles. holes and mystery substances have all been removed and there are no degrading concerns.

Aitchison says two of the posters have the old recruiting centre address on them.

She says there are also some photographs in the exhibit.

Aitchison says museum professionals can care for items like this and show people how you can keep your personal objects in good condition.

Right now, the museum is open on Saturday from noon to 4 but they will have extended hours for the summer starting on July 4th and they’ll be open from Tuesday to Friday from noon -4 and 10-4 on Saturday.
Aitchison says the exhibit will run until August.
