It’s a night to celebrate survivors, remember those lost and to raise funds to fight cancer.

The 17th annual North Bay Relay For Life gets started at the 22 Wing Track with the opening ceremonies at 6 o’clock.

Honourary Survivor Vern Vaillancourt will then lead the survivors lap and has a message for everyone.

“Pay attention to what your body is telling you when there is something wrong, and go and deal with it. Your chances of overcoming this are just so greater,” he says.

The luminary ceremony takes place after 10 o’clock.

Over $100,000 was raised for cancer research and support programs at last years event.

Registration can be done right up until the event tonight.
