Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli says the Liberal’s Hydro plan will have a devastating impact on household budgets and the economy.

This after both the financial accountability officer and the auditor general weighed in on the plan to lower hydro rates.

They say Ontarians will be paying a net 21 billion dollars over the next three decades to get short-term savings under the Liberal government’s hydro plan.

Energy Minister Glenn Thibeault admits the government’s proposed Fair Hydro Plan will cost more over the long-term.

The F-A-O report released yesterday says that could balloon to If as much as 93 billion dollars if the government has to fund the rebate through debt.

Thibeault says the program will share the costs more fairly over a longer period of time, and lower bills by 25 per cent on average starting this summer.

Fedeli, meantime, says it’s an “unfair” hydro plan that will see hydro bills go up and everything cost more.
