The next provincial election is still over a year and three months away, but the Northern Ontario Party is getting organizing.

Leader Trevor Holliday says they’re holding a membership meeting next week to create the Nipissing Riding Association.

“Sending the message out so that way it’s not just another fad of a party. We want to show that we’re going to be around long term,” he says.

A variety of positions will be voted on at the meeting, including President of the riding assocation and the candidate.

Holliday says the big difference between them and the other parties is that their members will be allowed to vote against party lines.

“All the candidates that are put forward are backed by the party to vote what is best for the riding, even if it’s different in two different parts of northern Ontario,” he adds.

The membership meeting goes March 13th at the North Bay Public Library.
