Two major developments at City Council on the future of the Dionne Quints Museum.

First, the land that the museum is currently on has been sold for $1.68-million to Grant Castle Corp.

Community Services Committee chair Mark King says the city made a great deal as the assessed value of the property was $1-million.

King says the development will include an A&W restaurant and a gas station.

The deal also means the museum will have to relocate by June 1st.

To that end, Council has formed a committee that will make a recommendation on location.

Chair of the committee Councillor Chris Mayne says there are two options, the Discovery North Bay Museum and the North Bay Waterfront.

He says the waterfront location is near the carousels, a parking lot and the marina, which are all close to foot traffic.

Mayne expects to report back to Council in April.

He also says there will be public meetings where people can give their ideas and suggestions.

Spokesperson for the Friends of the Dionne Quints Home Museum, Jeff Fournier, couldn’t be happier with Council’s decision.

He says they’re looking forward to having an active role in where the home is going.

Mayne also says he will be going to Montreal this weekend to meet with one of the Dionne sisters.
