The sawdust was flying at Canadore College‘s Commerce Court Campus today (Friday).

Canadore and Canadian Tire hosted the MAXIMUM Design Challenge.

Private Label Brand Manager with Canadian Tire David Quan says the students were creating unique Christmas trees using MAXIMUM tools and raw materials like ABS pipes and connectors, plywood, aluminum, wires and hardware.

“It’s a chance for us to get our product in front of the students and a chance to work in a real world situation, where students have to work in interdisciplinary teams and an opportunity to have some fun, design and execute some product,” he said.

The groups were given a week with the lists of materials and tools they had to work with before bringing their visions to life.

Some of the raw materials included ABS pipes and connectors, plywood, aluminum, wires and hardware.
