north bay recovery day
Celebrating recovery from addiction.

That’s the focus behind the inaugural Recovery Day in North Bay.

Events are taking place Friday and Saturday at the Rotary Pavillion at the waterfront.

Committee chair Wendy Prieur  says recovering from an addiction is hard enough but many former substance abusers find dealing with society’s judgment is even more difficult.

She says they’re raising awareness and reducing stigma, “we’re trying to empower people so that they don’t feel that they have to be ashamed of who they are. Instead, they can stand together and be proud.”

Prieur says local events include voices of recovery panel speakers, zumba, morning yoga on Saturday, entertainment and a lighting of City Hall, “the national Recovery Day logo is blue and green, so we’ll be lighting up City Hall blue and green Saturday night, so please come out and join us at 8 o’clock”, she said.
