City Council gave approval to the plan earlier this week.

Community Services chair Mark King says as far as he knows this the first time the boiler’s ever been replaced at the gardens.

He says it is coming in more expensive than they thought.

They had budgeted $385,000 but now they are looking at the cost being $460,000. That’s a $75,000 difference and King says that money will come from the reserves.

He says having a new unit will be good in the long run as utility costs have been an issue.

A local company won the contract to put in the new boiler.

King says they want the new boiler up and running in time for the fall.
