stolen carA 26 year old Montreal man is facing several charges after failing to stop for police.

Mattawa OPP say one of their officers attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding Thursday morning on Highway 17 in Papineau-Cameron Township.

Police then began a pursuit and then stopped. 

Later, a spike belt was deployed and an arrest was made.

The charges include flight while pursued by peace officer, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime over 5 Thousand Dollars, speeding and failing to comply with recognizance.

Police say the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier this week.
